The second day I spend in beautiful Colorado was busy from the minute we pulled ourselves out of bed. It was officially time for Baby Larkin to get to enjoy some snow!
Kristin has definitely arrived in Colorado prepared for the snow. (Unlike her photographer, who is silly, and decided she could survive without a coat or boots.) She bundled Larkin up in her snow gear, and we headed outside to do a bit of exploring.
Unfortunately, when Larkin was all bundled up, she became very uncoordinated :)

But that didn’t stop her from enjoying herself anyway, even through the struggles to navigate.

But she tired quickly, and we headed back inside to change clothes and do a bit of napping.

After a brief nap, we tried a different combination of warm weather clothing, and headed back outside to try out one of the many sleds we had seen lying around the house. Larkin found this to be quite fun!

Love this face. Seriously, this child is so adorable!

Once we conquered sledding, we figured it was time to head for the mountain. The plan for the day was to do a bit of tubing, while the boys spent more time on their snowboards.
Kristin is an amazing mom (remember how I mentioned that before?), and she was totally prepared for the hunger pains that suddenly attacked Baby Larkin the moment we got into the car. Yep, she’s supermom.

Something new that Larkin started doing during the trip was petting her face. She’d do it when she was crying, she’d do it when she was asleep, and she’d do it when she was being cute. This was one of the “being cute” times.

Love these eyes.

And the tubing begins! Snow was falling pretty hard as we made our way towards the tubing hill.

Larkin wasn’t exactly sure what to think about this process at first… but she definitely warmed up to it :)

In order to photograph this crazy experience, we turned my tube backwards, and made a giant train with everyone else beside and behind me. Larkin was in a double tube with her Papaw. It was hysterically fun, and the expressions that I was able to capture were awesome.

Larkin just wasn’t sure what to think at all. She seems somewhat dubious.

When we arrived at the bottom of the hill, we learned that we really weren’t supposed to have Larkin up there as “she is way too small”. So the one ride was the only ride we got to take her on. We decided that we adults needed to try it a few more times, so back up we went. I went backwards this time, as well… I was hoping for fun expressions, and I definitely got them!

We did the tubes one final time, but I left my camera with someone safe for this run. We did the hill with the “jump”, and it was wonderfully fun. Grabbed a quick self-portrait of Kristin and I, and I must say we look awfully cute in the snow.

Now it was time to watch the boys do a bit of showing off :) We found a nice warm place for Baby Larkin and the grandparents to watch from, and then I headed back out to the deck to grab a few shots of the boys in action. The deck was a VERY long way from where they were snowboarding, but I was able to get a shot or two despite the distance.

I love this shot of Nana and Larkin that I grabbed when I returned back inside from the snowboard fun. So unscripted.

I also love this shot of Brad and Baby Larkin. They’re both kinda cute, don’t you think?

We were very tired and cold, by this point… and bordering on cranky. So we hopped on the shuttle and headed back to our cars. I laughed SO hard when I came across this picture today. I had forgotten completely about this moment. Can anyone guess what Brad has just realized here? :)

Larkin was so tired she fell asleep in Kristin’s arms before we could even get back to the car… and then she stayed asleep after we got her in the carseat. I think the mountain completely exhausted her!

Kristin and Brad are absolutely amazing, and although I was supposed to head to the airport the day after all of this, they extended my stay so I could have a bit of playtime for myself! I didn’t photograph as much on days 3 and 4, but I did grab a few shots here and there. I hope to post those images soon!
Until then, I hope you’ve enjoyed the first two days of my Colorado experience… and Kristin and Brad, I hope you guys love your snowy slideshow!
much love,
