Instead of waking up bright and early on Monday morning and heading to the airport… I spent a few extra hours in bed, thanks to Kristin and Brad’s generosity in extending my “vacation” an extra day. The grandparents had plans to take Larkin into town and do a bit of shopping, and that left the rest of us with a decision to make. To ski, or not to ski.
We chose skiing, and although I didn’t quite become an expert, I am proud of myself for at least attempting. Sadly, a wrist injury that I am dealing with kept me from being able to make the trek down the mountain, but I truly enjoyed the process and the sites and the experience.
Most of the images that I took on Day 3 were just scenery snaps. Colorado is so beautiful, and I enjoyed documenting that beauty.

Day 4 was a day full of packing and driving and flying. It was a little bit sad to say goodbye to the house… I almost felt like I had just arrived! There is talk of making this a yearly excursion, and I can only hope I can convince the family to drag me along again in the future :)
Loved this detail…

Kristin and Larkin played outside in the snow for just a brief break in the midst of the packing…

And then it was time to get changed and get on the road. I love when I can capture “portraits” during such random real life moments.

A few more scenic shots from the road…

Kristin’s dad asked for a group shot of everyone, including me… So we put the camera on a timer, propped it up on the snowy hood of the car, and hoped for the best as I ran across the ice to get in the shot before it fired. It turned out pretty cute, and might be one of my favorite self portraits ever :)

And no, I didn’t forget to self portrait with Baby Larkin. Year #1 is over… I can’t wait to watch her grow up in Year #2.

Brad and Kristin… I hope you know how thankful I am for the opportunity to spend this vacation with you and your families. I had a blast. (Don’t tell anyone else, but you guys might be my favorites!)
love, love and more love…
